Elon Musk’s recent interference with Ukrainian military operations raises concerns about powerful corporate entities becoming players in global affairs. It is said the multinational corporations have rights but no responsibilities. While this is technically not true, Musk manipulated access to Starlink technology to influence Ukraine’s national security with, so far, little or no consequences. This isn’t much different than a foreign power interfering with elections. This should be a cautionary tale. I doubt that Musk is the only corporate entity to attempt to influence global affairs. Large resource extraction corporations and military contractors all have stakes in keeping the status quo or influencing the political climate in countries around the world. Answers?

Here’s the scenario. We were trying to recover access to a Facebook account that hadn’t been used for some time. Normally this wouldn’t be that difficult — Facebook has a “recover password” process. However, we no longer had access to the original email address (an old work account) and as far as we knew there was no mobile phone number associated with the account. After wading through numerous Facebook help pages we somehow ended up on a support chat allegedly at Facebook. After a few questions the Facebook agent referred us to a JustAnswers.com link which would cost us $5 to access with the assurance that this was fully refundable. http vs https: Google fonts and jquery issues

May 12, 2018 I had a bit of an odd experience this week. On one of my WordPress websites, the Google fonts I had installed stopped rendering properly. I did a bunch of web searches for possible causes. While there were lots of articles about similar issues, none seemed to address my case. Everything had been working fine for years and suddenly stopped on this particular website. I updated my WordPress version and made sure all my plugins were up to date — still no luck.
